Kenny's Music Dundee is located at 29-31 Castle Street, in the city centre, just along from the legendary Caird Hall. Built on the remains of the 13th century Dundee Castle (with ramparts remaining in the basement!), our building is steeped in history. Back in 1964, a musical phenomenon known as “The Beatles” played the Caird Hall... Legend has it, the shop acted as a refuge for the Fab Four as they sheltered from hordes of screaming fans. Latterly, the building was home to Sound Control, before the company's demise in 2008.
Upon entering Kenny's Music, you'll be met with our electric guitar floor. This floor houses everything today's guitarist could require; crammed from floor to ceiling with electric guitars, basses, amplification and accessories. We stock all the major brands at every price point, including Gibson/Epiphone, Fender/Squier, Yamaha, Gretsch, Schecter and many more. For all bass-enthusiasts, we have everything from entry-level packs through to the tastiest high-end basses from Musicman and Overwater. We have amps at all volumes and sizes, from tabletop practice amps, to full amp stacks from Fender, Vox, Marshall, Hughes & Kettner, Ashdown, Ampeg, Line 6 and loads more.
Take a trip up to the first floor and you'll reach our “hi-tech” section. We have the largest selection of digital pianos in the north of Scotland, from brands such as Yamaha, Roland, Korg and Casio, as well as housing the area's only Korg Pro Centre for all pro-keyboard enthusiasts. Electronic and acoustic drums as well as recording gear is all catered for in this section... But that's not all – the floor also has a gargantuan selection of acoustic guitars from Martin, Gibson/Epiphone, Yamaha, Freshman, Yamaha, Tanglewood, Breedlove, Simon and Patrick, Seagull... The list goes on and on.
If PA is your thing, our wall of speakers won't disappoint. We stock all types of active and passive gear from RCF, Mackie, Wharfedale, Bose, and all the mixers and accessories you could need for any live sound application.
Head up to our second floor to visit the Musicroom. With branches throughout the UK selling various musical instruments and accessories, the Musicroom in our building specialises in music books, in addition to some traditional instruments. You can contact the Musicroom manager, Norma Gourlay, and her team on 01382 228263. For music lessons, we also have guitar (Susan Perkinton), drum (Scott Donald) and piano/keyboard (Kevin Fyffe) tutors working within our building. Phone the Musicroom for further details.
In addition to our staff providing excellent after-sales support for goods purchased from Kenny's Music, we also have two freelance technicians to take care of any other repair work that may be required. Jim Laird of EMR services has over forty years' experience in the industry, repairing keyboards, amplifiers and PA equipment, as well as various other electrical musical goods. For all your fretted instrument repair or maintenance needs, Rod Vaughan of RV guitars (Scotland's first Gibson appointed repair specialist) is on hand to ensure your instrument is playing at its best. See http://www.rvguitars.co.uk for more information on Rod's services, or phone the shop to speak to one of the technicians.
Our store manager, Drew Innes, and his team are all extremely passionate about all things music and music-gear-related. In addition to providing an exceptional level of customer service, everyone working in our store is heavily involved in music outside the store; whether it's playing their instrument as a hobby or in a band, working in a recording studio, or providing live-sound for various local bands. If you have any queries, give us a ring on 01382 225619 to speak to one of our friendly staff members, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
