6 CLASSIC BLACKSTAR VOICES
The unique Voice control has six different channels - Clean Warm, Clean Bright, Crunch, Super Crunch, OD 1, OD 2. When used together with Blackstar's patented ISF control you can get the exact tone you're thinking of.
SUPER WIDE STEREO
Blackstar’s unique Super Wide Stereo technology gives you an immersive sound experience that will have you playing along to your MP3 backing tracks for hours.
Plug the amp in to a mac or PC with the USB connection. This will give enable you to edit patches, record and re-amp audio and much more via the GUI.
The ISF control works in conjunction with the Tone control. It allows you to choose the exact tone signature you prefer. Fully CCW is a more American characteristic with a tight bottom end and more aggressive middle, and fully CW is a British characteristic which is more ‘woody’ and less aggressive.
The new built-in looper provides both live performance and personal home practice options for players of all skill levels. Whether playing live as a solo artist or as the lone guitarist in a power duo (or trio), the simple and intuitive looper helps you to achieve a stage-filling, multiple track sound at the press of a footswitch (included), with unlimited overdubs.
Evolution of the ID:Core effects section in creating a new Chorus-Flanger effect makes way for the new polyphonic Octaver. Create everything from thundering detuned lows with the Octave Down to a shimmering 12-string effect with the Octave Up, or even a polyphonic wall of sound with a personal mix of anywhere in-between.
Valve or Tube amps use vacuum tubes to derive amplification where solid state uses electronic transistors. Valve amps generally cost more money as they are a more complex build and require more maintenance than their solid state brethren. Tubes usually give you a smoother response than solid state does but, don't count out the solid state yet. Solid state amps have been around since the 60's and have improved greatly over the years. Solid state amps are generally cheaper and much lower maintenance and therefore are more reliable when performing. Ultimately it comes down to personal preferences. Both types of amps are used regularly by professional musicians alike.
ISF is a tone feature exclusive to Blackstar. Infinite Shape Feature or ISF basically will shift your tone between the "American" setting and the "British" setting. The American setting is tighter, more focused, and percussive where the British setting is woodier, warmer and has a softer crunchy breakup. You can adjust this feature to your personal mix between the two settings.
Amp modelling is basically where one amp recreates the sound of another. As some amps can be quite expensive, amp modelling is a less expensive option to get a similar sound. Amp modelling is a growing technology but, has not yet perfected exact emulation.
Overdrive is literally what you get when a tube is pushed beyond its voltage limits causing a clip in the top of the waveforms resulting in a slight warm, fat and sometimes, sizzly tone. Overdrive pedals recreate that tone. The harder you strum, the angrier it sounds, so to speak. Distortion basically adds more clipping stages than overdrive and therefore has a more distorted tone. The more clipping stages added the more distorted the tone is. There is less definition with distortion as there are more overtones created because of the hard clipping.
