Gretsch

Gretsch are particularly well known for their Hollowbody, Semi-Hollowbody and Electromatic electric guitar series. This is a far cry from where they began in the 1880’s in New York, where they began as a small musical instrument shop which predominantly sold banjos, tambourines and drums.

Gretsch have an impressive and varied artist list, having been played by John Lennon and George Harrison (The Beatles), Pete Townsend (The Who), Malcolm Young (AC/DC), Chris Cornell (Temple of the Dog/Soundgarden/Audioslave) and many, many more. It would be fair to say that the sound of Gretsch guitars is deeply ingrained in the music we hear today.

Although they are mainly known for their Hollow and Semi-Hollow guitars, their range is pretty extensive. Whether it’s an entry level Electromatic, a Streamliner or even one of their top of the line “White Falcon” Models, there really is something to appeal to every guitarist, and it’s not difficult to see why Gretsch guitars have been used by so many influential artists over the years.
