MXR were established in New York in 1974 by former stereo and musical equipment repair specialists Terry Sherwood and Keith Barr. The first MXR pedal they ever produced was the Phase 90, which is still highly respected as a phase pedal today.
Now part of the Jim Dunlop brand, MXR continues to produce many revered pedals, such as the Dyna Comp compression pedal, the Distortion + distortion pedal and the Carbon Copy analog delay pedal. MXR pedals made a name for themselves to such an extent that they now have a series of artist model effects pedal, such as the Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day) Dookie Drive, the Slash Octave Fuzz and a range of Eddie Van Halen pedals including the EVH 30 Chorus, and EVH version of the Phase 90, and the EVH 5150 Overdrive, based on the Peavey amp of the same name.
