The ultimate list of Scottish music festivals

The summer festival season is nearly over - boo! What does that mean? Time to start planning next year’s festival gigs!

Playing at festivals is loads of fun. Yes, you may not get paid much (or anything), but you get to go to the festival for free and see loads of bands. It’s also good for your band CV, a way to connect with a load of potential new fans, and somewhere to sell your merch.

So how do you go about getting to play at a festival?

Generally you need to contact the organisers through their website and pitch your band to them. First step is to research which festivals you reckon your music would fit in, and then go to the website and look for either an application form or just the contact form. Make sure to offer a compelling description of the sort of music you play, a bit of background about who you are, and crucially include links to somewhere where they can listen to (or ideally watch) your band playing. Though no-one likes to think they fit into any one particular genre of music, it’s also helpful to give them an idea of the type of music you play, or some similar artists.

“But where can I find a list of music festivals?”, I hear you say. Well, friends, look no further, because below we’ve put together what we think is the ultimate list of Scottish music festivals. You’re welcome.
