What’s on offer?

It’s a Fender Vintera 50’s Precision Bass Model in Dakota Red.

Featuring an Alder body and a 34 ” scale maple neck with the vintage “C” shape, Fender’s Vintera range exemplifies everything that put the iconic guitar company on the map.

Channelling the mojo of their finest vintage instruments, the Vintera 50s Precision Bass takes it back to the very beginning.

A one-piece Maple neck and fretboard contrasts the warm midrange of Alder with some additional high-end clarity.

This gives the Vintera ‘50s Precision Bass a dynamic range of tones and ensures that it sits perfectly in any mix.

The C-shaped neck profile provides an effortless, classic playing experience.

This bass comes courtesy of none other than Andy Mooney, the Chief Executive Officer of Fender!

How did that come about?

Ken Morton, Technical Director of 12Guitars, got in touch Andy to tell him about their work in the community and how they are making guitars accessible to everyone.

Chris Glen (The Sensational Alex Harvey Band) had been doing a video interview for 12Guitars to inspire young people to take up the bass, so Ken emailed Andy and shared Chris’ video.

It turned out that when Andy was a teenager, he saw Chris playing bass with the band Tear Gas as the support band to Deep Purple at the Edinburgh Playhouse.

Andy told Ken that he was a big fan of Chris and that it was this gig that inspired him to take up the guitar!

Andy Mooney is a native of Whitburn in West Lothian, Scotland.

He played the electric guitar in various bands during and after high school in hopes of becoming a professional musician.

He was a semi-professional musician through his 20s until he moved to the United States from the UK.

Why do a raffle instead of an auction?

It feels right to give everyone in the community the same chance of winning this fabulous guitar, as opposed to it going to the highest bidder.

12Guitars and Kenny’s Music look forward to finding out who the lucky winner will be on November 12th and seeing the start of a new musical journey.
